My name is Ariel. I’m 19 and finishing my second year of college. Outside of the blogging world, I study classical opera (I’m a Vocal Performance Major and a Gender Studies minor). I love dance and pretty much any kind of art. My favorite season is spring, I’m a cat person, and I drool over dark chocolate.
I’ve always been a compassionate person and I’ve always wanted to be more conscious of the world around me. This really took on new heights in Fall 2009 when I was introduced to Gender Studies and started claiming my identity as a feminist. I discovered how horrific the conditions are for laborers in foreign factories and that most American companies outsource their labor to these places. Not only does this greatly harm the people working there, but the environment takes a beating as well.
Through this blog, I hope to discover more about this whole process — why it occurs, who benefits and, most seriously, who is harmed. Economics and labor relations aren’t my strong suit, but it’s something I’ve become very passionate about and something I really want to know more about.
I appreciate feedback, whether it be positive or critical! This is going to be quite the experiment. :)
I’ll be reading your blog with interest! This is a first for me too – I feel the same way you do about blogs, but you are an inspiration. Way to go, Ariel! Love the outfits you shared and love you too.
Thanks Gwen!
I miss you!
